  • Unimate

    George Devol an inventer, invented what is consider the first modern robot which was programmable. He named it Unimate and it was sold to generals motor in 1960 where it was installed in a plant to lift hot piece of metal from a die casting machine. t
  • Stanford Arm

    Victor Scheinman, whom was a Mechanical Engineering student that worked in Stanford Artificial Intelligence Lab (SAIL) designed and created the Stanford Arm in 1969.
  • Soft Gripper

    Soft gripper a robot was created in 1976 by shigeo Hirose. It could wrap around an object like a snake.
  • Direct Drive Arm

    The direct Drive Arm was created in 1981 by Takeo Kanade, It was the first direct drive arm to have motors in the joints of the arms,
  • Dante

    An eight legged robot called Dante was developed at the Carnegie melton University in 1993. Dante was designed to collect data in harsh environments. Unfortunately Dante failed but Dante 2 was created in year 1994 as a more robust version.

    In 2000 Honda revealed to the world the ASIMO. This Robot was so advanced it could run, walk, communicate and interact with humans and the environment.

    Robots spirit and Opportunity set out in 2003 to mars where they have traveled distances unexpected.
  • Starfish

    In 2006 a 4 legged robot called starfish was created. This robot was capable of self modelling and learning to walk after being damaged.
