Radio makes its money by advertising little companies and getting them well-known, in 1922 there was a 10 minute commercial for a apartment complex charging $50 to stay in. -

IN 1927 the Federal Radio Commission, or FRC organized the liscensing of transmitters. So you now had to have a liscense to broadcast. They also assigned radio station frequencies, call letters, and power limits.
