Feb 10, 1700

Athanasius Kircher a scientist in the 17th century he created the " Magic Lantern". This which was projecting hand images by using a single light from a candle. At the time the light bulb wasn't invented so they used a candle. Using that alternative it showed a reflection they could see this because it reflect from the walls surface.

Phenakistoscope

In the early 1800 the Phenakistoscope was invented, it was a plate sized slotted disk.It was used with images so when a was spun diffrent images would appear. The faster the motions were shown.

Zoetrope

Mar 19, 1860

This is a bowl like device created in the 1860's with drawing in the inside. So when viewers look into the slot the images appeared to be moving. Sort of like a mary go round.

Thaumatrope

Feb 25, 1862

Thaumatrope was created in 1862 by a man named John Ayrton, this was simple trick to get people to have an allusion that a man was riding a horse , they used a card with a string one side had a horse and the other a man was in a position in riding a horse they turned it so fast that it seem like it was moving.

Praxinoscope

Emile R was the inventor of the Praxinoscope. In the early 1870s, his inventions is very similar the Zoetrope. but there is a diffrence , one uses mirrors and the others didn't.

Eadweard Muybridge 1878

Straight from Britian he is known in film history. He is known for taking a grant picture in motion. At the time is was significant.

Private Screening

Around this time Cinematographe was invented by Auguste and Louis Lumiere. This allowed people to watch 20 minute or less movie/ short films. People found this very amusing.

First ever Animation

First Movie Theatre

This was located in Pittsburgh. This were they made a lot of movies which at first took place in New York. In movie theatre's the poor sat in front and the rich sat on the upper level.

Edision Introduces his version of Kinetophone

Edision made his own kinetophone in 1910, along with goons with motion pictures. This device was only in use for one person per time because people weren't need to watch it together.
