    Early Mid 1830
    Moving images were created by use of moving drums and disks with the use of independent inventions. Those inventions were the Stroboscope (created by Simon von Stampfer in Australia), Phenakistoscope (created by Joseph Plateau in Belgium), and the Zoetrope (created by William Horner in Britain). These invention later pioneered the way for more advance film taking down the line.

    The very first patented machine that showed pictures in motion in the U.S.was called the “Zoopraxiscope”.Or by its nickname deemed "The Wheel of Life" for its ability to view moving pictures/drawings through a slit. This very device was patented by William Lincoln, the third son of the very man that is Abraham Lincoln.

    In a $25,000 bet with his friends, Eadweard Muybridge successfully is able to take multiple photographs of motion of a horse running at top speed. He done this by setting up multiple cameras to take rapid sequence of photos at a horse moving. After that, he notice that if you look at the photo in quick succession, then you will be able to see as if the horse was actually in motion.

    Multiple inventions made by different people helped the way for film like moving pictured cameras and motion pictured camera. Inventions like introducing film on paper and developing film using its very own processing plants. Films were later in production at the near end of the 1880s decade.

    Edison Kinetoscope

    Edison and his partner W.K. Dickson developed the kinetoscope, which was a peep-show device that moved film past a light. The reason why Edison created it like this is because he thought he would get more money charging people to watch one at a time than, making a projector. He later patented it in August 31,1897
  • The Lumiere Brothers

    The Lumiere Brothers
    Two brothers named Louis and August Lumiere patented a combination of a projector and a movie camera to create the cinematography. They used this invention to show it to a audience of 30-60 second movies. They were the first to present motion projected pictures/movie to more than just one person.

    First U.S. narrative film directed by Erwin Porter. Longest movie at this time which ran less than 1 minute. This movie however lasted 12 minutes.

    1910 Film stars are born
    Back then, actors were anonymous and were unrecognized by the public. Until !910 it was then they started to add the actors names in the credits reel. This paved the way for film stars, such as Jean Arthur.
  • Creation of Universal Pictures.

    Creation of Universal Pictures.
    In 1912, Carl Lemmie, a pioneer in film making, organized and created Universal Pictures.And, in its early years, Universal Pictures had produced brands of feature films.This studio became known as the first major studio in film making.

    In 1923 Warner Brothers is founded, and in 1925 Warner Bros. team up with a system for movie to produce sound, something that has never been done before. So in October 6,1927, Jazz Singer was released and was the first movie with actual dialogue.

    The cult classic film, The Wizard of Oz was one of the first movie to use technicolor.(Technicolor is the system in motion picture using synchronized mono chrome films, each in different color to produce a movie that look like it's in color.) Other movies followed like Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs.

    In the late 1960s Hollywood filmmakers begin to create more new, creative and innovative works of film. Some of which actually reflected some social conflicts that were popular to the western audience, such as the likes of Bonnie and Clyde(1967) and a Space Odyssey(1968). Some would considered that when they released Bonnie and Clyde, that is when Hollywood changed and has become anew.

    New Film-Makers Rise
    During the mid 1970s, a new group of film makers would rise and be known for their new different styles and takes on film. These include such of the likes of George Lucas, Francis Ford, Roman Polanski, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg. These film makers would create blockbusters like Star Wars and etc.
