  • Period: to

    Dead Ball Era

During this time, baseball games were at an all-time low, with no entertainment for the people watching. In fact, they called it dead ball era not only because of the baseball games, but also because of the baseballs used. back then, the baseball coach would have to pay for using the baseball, and because many didn't want to pay for 10 baseballs per game($30) they would use one. And by the end of the game the baseballs would be dirty, and mangled.
    they also were building stadiums.

    back from the dead
The national league put a rule into place banning tampering with the ball, because players would cheat and find a way to win the game easily. This pulled baseball out of the dead ball era. That rule also settled a death of Ray Chapman, whose life ended because of baseball cheating. To help get to of the dead ball era even more, construction on new baseball stadiums were coming to a close, so that more people could watch the games at once.

    the golden years
George Herman Ruth or commonly known as "Babe Ruth" changed americas view on baseball forever. Thanks to the red sox baseball coach, who made a last minuet decision to place Ruth in the outfield.
his decision was a good one, because Ruth was a good hitter. The public soon craved this, what they now called 'power-hitting' as hitting became the focus of baseball. The baseball game wasn't in the dead ball era anymore!

  • EVERYONE

    EVERYONE
In 1947, African-americans returned to baseball with the intention of playing the game. I can imagine how difficult it was for them to play, their teammates never treated them as teammates and would pick on them, but just like Jackie Robinson, they had to stay strong if they wanted to play baseball. But because of their "teammates" the african-americans had a higher level of endurance, because they have to persist and perceiver past the comment and attitude they received daily.
  • truly american

    truly american
during this time, 2 kinds of views existed. they were either being sold, or being changed. the literal view of baseball changed when it aired on tv! they also ended up gaining more popularity this way, because more people could watch it at once. the other view that changed is how americans view the game itself. people are watching it so that their team will win (they hope...)
but they used to watch it just for the fun of it.
