Texas Revolution
This was the day the Texas Revolution started. The Texas Revolution was a rebellion of now called Texans against the government of Mexico. It lasted from October 2, 1835 to April 21, 1836. Mexico allowed Americans to move there, but when they realized Americans were taking over the territory, they started to move them away. The Texans did not like this, and started a war. The Texans won, and for a short time became their own country, but would soon merge with the United States. -

The Donner Party
This was the day the Donner Party set off to find a new life in the west. They decided while travelling to go off route on a road that was said to shave time off of the estimated travel time. When they were going, one wheel axle broke, and they stopped to repair it. They spent the night there, and it snowed abundantly. They would spend the winter there. They were all freezing and severely starved. They killed one of their own, and resorted to cannibalism. -
California Gold Rush
This was the day the California Gold Rush (CGR) started. The CGR was a time period in American history where gold, found in the west part of the U.S., was on the rise. Gold had become incredibly expensive, and many pioneers set off to get there hand at the gold deposit. Many tried, many succeeded, but many, many people failed. Now, we call those people 49ers. -
