  • The Louisiana Purchase

    On April 30, 1803, the land we call now, the Mid West, was purchased. This was called the Louisiana Purchase. This expensive, yet very important purchase doubled the United States land size and gave control of the Mississippi River to to the US.
  • Lewis and Clark Journey West

    On May 14th, 1803, Meriweather Lewis and William Clark left to explorer the "new" Western land that the US had recently purchased (The Louisiana Purchase). This event was important because we now have mapped out the area, and have discovered "new" plants and animals.
  • Texas War of Independence

    On April 21st, 1836, what we now know today as Texas, fought against Mexico for it's independence. This is an important time in history because if none of this happened, we probably wouldn't have Texas as a state.
  • The Mexican American War

    On April 25th, 1846, Mexico started shooting at US soldiers. This event is very important because it we got the territory where California, Nevada, New Mexico, and other states that were ruled by the Mexicans
  • Attack on Fort Sumter

    Attack on Fort Sumter
    On April 12, 1861, Confederate cannons fired the first shot at Fort Sumter. Lincoln asked for 75,000 militiamen to destroy the rebelling south states. This an important event in history because if we would have given up right away, the slavery time would have lasted much longer.
  • The Invention of the T.V.

    The Invention of the T.V.
    On September 7th, 1927, Philo T. Farnsworth who was only 21 at the time made the very first television. It was only in black and white color (full color ty hadn't been invented yet). This event in time is very important because without T.V. and the technology we have today, we would not be able to advertise as freely as we can. We would be wasting wood from tree's to make giant signs.
  • The Supreme Case: Brown v The Board of Education

    The Supreme Case: Brown v The Board of Education
    On May 17th, 1954, the Supreme Court made a law saying that segregation in schools and other public facilities was illegal. This is important because if this did not happen I would not be going to the school i am at today.
  • The ENIAC - The First Computer

    The ENIAC - The First Computer
    On February 15, 1946, the first computer was completed and introduced to the public. It took up about 1,800 square feet, and used 18,000+ vacuums tubes. This invention is so important because without computers we would not be able to make movies as well as we can with computers.
  • Centralia, Pennsylvania

    Centralia, Pennsylvania
    On May 27, 1962, in Centralia, Pennsylvania a coal mine fire was spotted and has been burning ever since, it's been 50+ years! This really isn't that important, but I is a "coal" place to go (my puns are terrible).
  • The Finishing of the World Trade Center

    The Finishing of the World Trade Center
    On August 25th, 1966, the world trade center was completed and open to the public, in Downtown Manhattan. This is a very important event because it led to a greater number in large businesses, and smaller businesses to be launched. It also led to a crisis when the identical towers were hit with passenger planes and finally collapsed minutes later. It also led to America coming together for thee larges Sea Evacuation in history.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    On the July 4th, 1976, the United Stated of america Declared Independence from England, and is now their own country. This is so important because if this did not happen we would probably would still be "owned" by England.
  • September 11th, 2001

    September 11th, 2001
    On the morning of September, 11th, 2001, in New York City, New York, the first hijacked plane flew into the North Tower at about 8:44 AM. September 11th is important because even though 2,996 people died, it has made our country stronger and we now have more advanced buildings to prevent the buildings from collapsing as quick as they did.
