    The formation of the Bolshevik Party was the consequence of the division in the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP) leading to the formations of the Bolsheviks an Mensheviks. This party would later seize power for over 70 years.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    On January 22nd, 1905 a group of peaceful protesters approached the palace to reason with the king, instead they were met with guns, which resulted in a spark of protests across Russia.
  • October Manifesto

    October Manifesto
    After much reluctance Tsar Nicholas would finally sign the manifesto, which would act as the first attempt to a constitution in imperial Russia. The manifesto did not result in immediate success with the king continuing his suppression of political parties and executions of armed people who supported the revolution.

    After a period of attempted reform, the Tsar entered WW1 which sparked the protests again.

    In the midst of WW1, and after the assassination of Rasputin, protests roared across Russia, for dissolution of the monarchy, withdrawal from the war, and bread. The February Revolution led to the abdication of the Tsar, and the proclamation of the Russian Republic.

    Because of the lack of faith put into the provisional government and an uprising led by the Bolsheviks these events sparked the start of the Russian Civil War and the end of the dual power leading to Lenin's rise in power.

    This signing of the treaty saw the withdrawal of Russia from WW1. This also saw Russia losing control of Ukraine, the Baltic states, and other states. This treaty was annulled after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.

    On the night of July 16th, The Romanov family was sent down to their basement by guards, and were all executed by firing squad by order of the Ural Soviets. This was to ensure the monarchy could not be reformed.
