    Brigham Young
    Brigham Young was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1832.Brigham was appointed an apostle in 1835 and became the leader of the Mormons,soon after Joseph Smith was killed in 1844.From 1846 to 1852 Brigham led 16,000 Mormons as they moved from Illinois to Utah.While moving to Utah,Brigham created a telegraph.He built a railroad to Salt Lake City to be able to communicate and have transportation to Mormon towns and communities.This is a photo of Brigham Young.
  • The Alamo

    The Alamo
    The Texas War for Independence from Mexico was in December 1835, Texan soldiers guarded the Alamo. As James Bowie and William B. Travis controlled texan forces, Santa Anna was to siege the Alamo with his men of 1,800- 6,000. On February, Santa Anna sieged the Alamo for 13 days on the 14th day they burst through. Although no prisoners were taken, the Mexicans took over. Sam Houston and his men defeated Santa Anna, and Texas eventually bought the Alamo in 1883. This is a photo of the Alamo.

    John L. O´Sullivan wrote and published Manifest Destiny on July-August 1845, in the Democratic Review.
  • The Donner Party

    The Donner Party
    April, 1846 Jacob and George Donner left Springfield, Illinois to California.The Donner Party had 87 pioneers and 27 wagons. Lansford W.Hastings wrote a guide book that would save the pioneers 400 miles, Lansford had not been on it. The Donner Party followed the route, on October 31 the party got stuck in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in a snow storm.In the end the people who lived went to cannibalism while being trapped in the mountains.Out of the 87 only 47 survived.A photo of the Donner Party.
