  • Oklahoma City Bombing

    The Oklahoma City Bombing was the most deadliest homegrown act of terrorism in the United States, killing 168 people. Timothy McVeigh, an ex army solider parked a truck with a bomb and ignited it. within 90 minutes of the attack, he was arrested for another crime later leading to the fbi tracing him back to the attack.
  • President Clinton is Impeached

    After President Bill Clinton is inaugurated to office in 1993, during his second term, he was impeached in 1999 on two charges including perjury and obstruction of justice. Clinton was later found not guilty of the charges against him. (Kruse and Zelizer 224-227)
  • Presidential Election of 2000

    The Presidential Election of 2000 between George W Bush and Al Gore. This election is one of the most impactful of the United States as it was ultimately came down to whoever won Florida. George W Bush ultimately won Florida giving him the title of the 43rd President of the United States. This election also was so close that they had to recount and by December there still wasn't an official President declared. (Kruse and Zelizer, 239 and 244)
  • Bush Announces contributing to Global Funds

    In May 2001, George W. Bush announced that the United States would contribute $200 million to help the fight against HIV / Aids. The contribute to the Global Funds would help decrease the number of diseases, illness, and death ultimately creating a better way of living for the people of the United States.
  • 9/11

    Terrorist Attack on the World Trade center / Twin Towers in New York lead by Osara Bin Laden. 19 terrorist onboarded 4 different planes and hijacked with the intent to hit the two towers, the pentagon, and the capital. the attack resulted in about 3000 people dead and thousands more injured. the attack changed the life and perspective in the U.S creating the need for TSA and much more. (Kruse and Zelizer, 249-254)
  • Launch of Operation Enduring Freedom

    Operation Enduring Freedom was the United States response to the terrorism. This allowed for more protection within the United States and created new technology for the U.S to use. (Kruse and Zelizer, 255)
  • Colin Powell addresses United Nations Security Council

    One of Americas most trusted politicians goes on national television addressing the United Nations Security Council stating that Iraq had a serious weapon program. Coming from the most trusted politician, this was taken seriously and support for the United States during war was taken. (Kruse and Zelizer, 264)
  • Photographs releasing U.S soldiers brutalizing prisoners

    On April 28th, 2003 CBS released photographs of U.S soldiers brutalizing prisoners in a prison in Iraq. This was after the United States had invaded the prison, Abu Ghraib, becoming the largest American Prison in Iraq. The release of these images socked the United States and ultimately lead to breaking down the Bush administration and its involvement in the war. (Kruse and Zelizer, 269)
  • Hurricane Katrina

    Hurricane Katrina, a category 5 hurricane, Strikes the Gulf cost causing almost 2000 people injured and/or dead. The hurricane caused about $100 billion worth of damages. Hurricane Katrina is still to this day the most dangerous and deadliest hurricane to hit the United States.
  • Barack Obama becomes president

    in 2004, people became very found of future president, Barack Obama. His speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention grabbed many peoples attention. His inauguration brought new light to the United States. Being the first president of color and rejecting division between the country allowed him to strive within his role creating a change and be rejected in the following election.
