    The Phyllis Cromack
    On the 15th of september, 1971, the Phyllis Cromack sailed to the Aleutian Islands to stop the Nuclear testing. Reluctantly the US goverment abandoned the nuclear movement in 1972 after having fought bitterly with Greenpeace. This was a great moment for Greenpeace.

    Greenpeace was founded by Patrick Moore
    On THe 15th of September 1971, Greenpeace was founded by the man called Patrick Moore and his best friend Bob Hunter. It started when a charted ship called the Phyllis Cromack was renamed and called Greenpeace for a protest against the nuclear movment in Vancouver.

    Greenpeace co-founder was attacked by french commandoes
    On Chritmas night, co-founder of Greenpeace,Bob Hunter was assulted and then dragged outside and assulted again. He was left there for hours before and ambulance arrived. Bob Hunter identified the commandoes as the french and the french goverment was sued. The french were obviously looking for revenge after the stopping of the nuclear movement 2 years earlier.

    Greenpeace turns it's attention to Commercial Whaling.
    At the start of Febuary, 1975, Greenpeace noticed the changes in the ammount of whales left in the world. They were shocked by the results. They turned thier focus to the whaling. They stopped and intercepted a lot of whaling ships. The ammount whaled a year has not stopped but less whales are killed.

    At the sart of June, Newfoundland announced that they would start killing seals for fur. Greenpeace set out and expedition to stop the massacre. They successfully stopped a lot of killing though 100 seals still got killed. By the time Greenpeace got back, there were 8,000 active members waiting for them.

    On the 6th of March, the Phyllis Cromack is named the rainbow warrior and that day after the Rainbow Warrior was named, the ship particapated in the Anti-Whaling project/campaign

    Nuclear Waste jions Greenpeace list to stop
    In the same year that the Rainbow warrior was named, months later, Greenpeace exposes the dumping of nuclear waste at sea by the British and French goverement. They sent live footage back to the public and soon the issue was globalised and both goverments were sued and had to pay a hefty price.

    On the first day of 1981, two more brave ships, equipped with alot of brave sailors, the Sirius and the Cederlea, jioned the Greenpeace fleet. having more ships was an advantage to Greenpeace.

    Greenpeace continued to protest about the nuclear movement in France, so the french goverment comenced the operation Satnique to strick the pride of Greenpeace. a Reporter died on the sinking ship and two french agents were arrested for planting bombs and then blowing up the Rainbow Warrior.

    On this day, sixty-five countries around the world, decide to stop all ocean incineration of toxic waste.
  • The Dumping of Brent Spar

    The Dumping of Brent Spar
    The Brent spar is a oil rig that takes oil from the deep. On the 30 of April, 1995, the goverment ordered the oil rig to be dumped. Greenpeace acted as soon as they heard of trhe dumping, took action and sent out a boat to start protesting against the dumping. They were succesful. If the oil rig had been dumped, underwater creatures would of been hurt and maybe the goveremnt might not have drained all the oil and it would damage the water.
