    Square Enix releases the first title in their most successful video games series. Originally put out for the NES, Final Fantasy followed a similar gameplay and graphic/sfx structure to The Legend of Zelda. The format followed suit in the next two titles.
  • Nintendo introduces SNES

    Nintendo introduces SNES
    Remaining in the 16-bit gaming world, the Super Nintendo introduced color and more depth to the graphics and sound of video games, which kept the appeal strong despite competing systems pushing for the 32-bit gameplay.
    Most importantly, Mode 7 was introduced which "allows a background layer to be rotated and scaled on a scanline-by-scanline basis to create many different effects."

    The sixth installment of the Final Fantasy series utilized the Mode 7 capablities of the Super Nintendo, allowing for more detailed navigation and illustrious backgrounds.

    The seventh installment was the most critically acclaimed and revolutionary of the series. Graphically, game was radically different in how it used cinematic cut scenes to progress the game forward. These cut scenes were fully CG three dimensional scenes.

    FFX used motion capture to achieve the clearest detail in it's characters. Released on the Playstation 2.
