  • The Hossbach Conference

    The Hossbach Conference
    On November 5th, in the year 1937 Hitler held a secret meeting with top advisors to talk about the future for Germany. Present at the meeting was the German War Minister, Blomberg, Commander in Chief of the Luftwaffe, Göring, Foreign Minister, Neurath, and Colonel HoBbach. Hitler’s primary objective was to take over Czechoslovakia and Austria, using force. He wanted Germany to get back to where it was before the first world war which they had been blamed for.
  • Germany Marches Into Austria

    Germany Marches Into Austria
    Prior to the march, the chancellor of Austria, Schuschnigg, met with Hitler to discuss Austria's independence. On the 11th Schuschnigg resigned after holding a vote, for or against annexation by Germany. On March 12th, 1938 Hitler and his troops marched into Austria and took over. They imprisoned Schuschnigg, and established a Nazi government. Austria stayed under Nazi power until the end of the war.

    The Signing of the Munich Agreement
    On September 30th, 1938 prime ministers from Britain and France, Neville Chamberlain and Edouard Daladier signed the Munich Agreement along with Adolf Hitler. This agreement caused war but at the same time gave the country Czechoslovakia away to the German conquest.

    German Soldiers take over a Czechoslovakia
    In 1938, Hitler and two prime ministers had signed an agreement that had protected the country of Czechoslovakia. Once Hitler and his troops invaded the country and took over the peace that Germany they promised was ruined. The Germans took lots of the country’s supplies including weapons, coal, iron, steel, and even its electrical power. Since Germany had taken so much, the country was weak and this allowed the Germans to take over and stay in power.

    On September 1st, 1939 German troops attack Poland from every side of their very long boarder. They bombed Polish airfields and attacked the navy. According to Hitler, this was to protect Germany but Britain and France didn't believe him, leading them to declare war on Germany.

    Britain and France declare war on Germany
    Two days prior on September 1st, Hitler and his German troops invaded the country of Poland. Because of this, both Britain and France declared war on Germany. The first huge casualty of the war was not German though, but a British liner. Over 112 lost their lives. Of the 112 lives lost their was 28 Americans. After this, president FDR said that America was going to stay neutral and not take sides in the war that had broke out.

    On April 9th in the year 1940, Hitler along with other Nazis launched surprise attacks on Denmark and Norway . Hitler had put in an order to attack the two places back in March the same year. Hitler was very interested in Norway because of its distance from the sea. This would allow the Germans to sail their warships with ease and import goods and trade with other parts of the world. Mainly iron ore from Sweden.

    France  hands over their Power
    On June 22nd, in the year 1940, France surrendered to Nazi Germany. Only six weeks after the Germans had started invasion in the Western part of Europe.An armistice was signed by officials in France and Germany. This armistice though did not come into action until three days later on the 25th of June the same year.
