    Missions were set up to change indians to Catholic. Once they are catholic they cannot be slaves.
  • James Oglethorpe and trustees

    James Oglethorpe and trustees
    Founded the city of savannah. Was given permission to establish Georgia. Quickly became the leader amongst the trustees because he befriended Native americans, like Tomachichi and Mary Musgrove. Allowed Jewish, Scottish, and German immigrants to settle in Georgia. Defended Georgia and from three Spanish attacks. Left Georgia in 1743 never to return, but lived long enough to see the colony he helped create break away from England in 1785.
