  • Estates General meeting at Versailles

    Assembly of the representatives from all pf the three estates, needed to get approval of the tax reform because France was facing Bankrupcy. Second estate forced this meeting. This was important because this was the first meeting that happened that led to the Revolution.
  • Tennis Court Oath taken by Third Estate

    When the third estate had found themselves locked out of the meeting room for all estates they needed to find a place to meet at so they broke into the indoor tennis court and made that their make shift court room. The people from the third estate made and oath to not leave the court until they had written up a new constitution. This was a major part that led up to the revolution.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    When there was rumors that the French soldiers were going to massacre the citizens , the people gathered weapons and stormed the Bastille ( the Prison which held gun powder). The people had overwhelmed the guards and soon took control over the Bastille. This had shown the power of the people.

    Great Fear

    Wild rumors came out that said that the nobles were hiring bandits to come and terrorize the peasents, once they had heard of this thereselves had become outlaws. The outlaws gathered weapons and broke into nobles homes and tore up the legal papers that binded the peasents into their feudal dues.
  • Writing of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizens

    After a month of planning and writing of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizens it passed August 26th, This was a cornerstone document of the French Revolution. This document was for all political club and movements
  • Women March of Versailles

    Angry mob of over 7,000 working women with pitchforks and muskets marched through Paris to Versailles. When marching they chanted " Bread! Bread!" . They shouted this because they wanted the king to share their wealth of bread that is stored in the palace, because most of the population of France was in poverty.This march had been very important because it brought the monarchy in Versailles down. It also changed the view and role of the women.
  • Louis XVI is Taken Prisoner

    Louis XVI is taken prisoner on charges of high treason against the country France. After being arrested he was sent to the national assembly where they gathered around to find if Louis is guily or not. The assembly had reached a verdicyt and had found Louis XVI guilty, and the punishment was Death by guillotine.
  • Louis XVI is Executed

    Days after Louis XVI had been found guilty , he was put to death. Death by guillotine, once the ax of the guillotine had fell , the birth of the revolution was felt all over France. The monarch was dead.
  • Committee of Public Safety

    The Committee of Public Safety had become a powerful symbol for the French Revolution. The purpose of the committee was to stop a power from being to strong. Members Max. Robespierre, Louis Saint, and George Couthon became powerful leaders of the revolution.

    Reign of Terror

    The name of Reign of Terror got the name because of how everybody was in fear of getting executed by Max. Robespierre. If he suspected any ties with you supporting the monarch you were quickly put on trial and then put to death by executions. After the fall of the reign of terror there was a total of 17,000 executions.
  • Directory Takes Over France

    The French Directory was a government set up after the revolution. it had 500 delegates that made legislation, then a counsel of 250 delegates who held the power to say yes or no to the legislation of 500. Then there was an executive branch which was made up of 5 men , and they choose ambassadors, Tax collectors , etc... This form of government didn't last long before it became corrupt.
