    Franklin Roosevelt is elected president of the United States of America in a very hard time. In his inaugural address he talks as if he is one of the people. His most famous line is, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself"(Roosevelt). The American people have not failed, but Roosevelt needs to lead them to better times. He will do anything for this, including waging a war against the United States(Roosevelt).

    Relief, Recovery, and Reform

    Franklin Roosevelt preached the 3 R's throughout his presidency. Relief which was immediate help. This was very helpful to getting out of the great depression. Recovery which was gradual. Reform was for the future. Congress passed almost anything during this time. Some examples were the Farm Relief Act and new agriculture policies. This was one of the most free, peacetime congress's in the history of the United States(Roosevelt "Relief, Recovery, and Reform").

    Franklin Roosevelt addresses Latin American countries on his new policy, after decades of rough relationships. He would like to treat the neighbors nicely in hopes they will not fear the United States.     This is the basis of how Franklin Roosevelt addressed the country and home front during World War 2. He had the Four Freedoms. Freedom of Speech and expression. Freedom to worship God. Freedom to want. Freedom from fear. These freedoms were important to the American people and soldiers away at war. They were important to be sure future generations could live happy(Roosevelt "The Four Freedoms").

    Franklin Roosevelt signs the Deceleration of War with Japan after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. This will initiate the United States on their formal entry into World War 2.
