He got shot in his car in Dallas , Texas. He was riding in a motorcade in Dealey plaza. Kennedy was aware that a feud among party leaders in Texas could jeopardize his chances of carrying the states in 1964. -

Outlawed any discrimination against age, gender, race, and religion. First proposed by JFK it survived strong opposition from southern members of the congress. Over the years congress expanded the act and also passed additional legislation aim. -
President Johnson sign voting right act
The voting right Act prohibits discriminator voting practices. Johnson was elected in a landslide victory and used the mandate to push for legislation he believed would improve the American way of life. Although the Voting Rights Act passed, state and local enforcement of the law was weak and it was often outright ignored, mainly in the South and in areas where the proportion of blacks in the population was high . -

52 Americans were held hostage 444 days after a group of Islamist students and militants supporting the Iranian Revolution took over the American Embassy in Tehran. Due to the hostages being taken Jimmy Carter decision on allowing Iran's deposed Saha, prowestern autocrat who had been expelled some months before he was able to go to the united states for cancer treatment. East German government official Günter Schabowski stated during a press conference that travel through the border to the West was open. People who heard the broadcast were shocked. They went to the border to see if it was true. The border guards, who had no explicit instructions as to what to do, let them through.
