    Brown v. Board of Education
    Brown v. Board of Education was an important Supreme Court Case that declared separate public schools were unconstitutional. Black and white students had to go to the same school as a result. This was important because this ended segregation between schools.

    The most important event between this time period was the Brown v. Board of Education because this event desegregated schools between blacks and whites. Without this event, blacks and whites would still have separated schools today and that would be racially discriminated.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a protest led by blacks to stop using their buses in order to get them out of business to desegregate public buses. This protest was led by Martin Luther King Jr. Ultimately, this led to public buses being desegregated.

    The Vietnam War was the U.S helping Vietnam to gain their independence. The U.S. also wanted to prevent the spread of communism. The Vietnam War lasted for 20 years, from 1955-1975.

    The counterculture movement was a teen movement that experimented with drugs and rebelled against society. These people were white and in the middle class. They were also called "hippies".

    The segregation incident in the University of Alabama was the discrimination of two black students by not letting them enter the college. The governor of Alabama, George Wallace did not let them enter the building because they were black. JFK ordered them to desegregate schools and finally those two students could enroll in that school.

    John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas while on a motorcycle in 1963. JFK was the 35th president of the United States. JFK was in Texas because he was on a campaign to be elected for his second term.

    The Great Society was programs made by Lyndon B. Johnson for social welfare. These programs were meant to get rid of racial injustice and poverty. Education, health care, and transportation were issues addressed in these programs.

    The Black Panther Party was created for African Americans to protect against police brutality. They used methods such as starting movements and defended the black community for protection against police. They tried to spread awareness and stop police brutality to African Americans.

    The American Indian Movement was a movement for Native Americans to help them gain status and fulfill treaties in the U.S. They have culture and their rituals that they preserve for their history. They had their own beliefs and wanted to spread awareness about it.

    Vietnamization was the withdrawal of troops from the U.S. to South Vietnam for the involvement in the Vietnam War. The goal was to stop communism from spreading and help Vietnam gain their independence. This plan was supported by Richard Nixon in this war.

    The Kent State Massacre was a protest by students against the bombing of Cambodia. There was a shooting and many students who were unarmed got injured and hurt. This was an anti-war protest by students and it got out of hand.

    Richard Nixon spied on Democrats to help his job in office as president. He recorded conversations and he was accused of illegal activity as president. He had to hand over the videos and he resigned as president.
