    During the movie, Elvis Presley comes to stay at the Boarding Home that the Gump run. Forrest dances while Elvis plays his guitar. This eventually inspires Elvis Presley to find new dance moves similar to those that Forrest showed him. Elvis Presley was one of the greatest revolutions in Rock and Roll and Pop culture. He was one of the most famous musicians. He was known for his very suggestive dancing such as the pelvic thrust and many other similar forms of dancing.
  • Brown VS Board of Education

    Brown VS Board of Education
    George Wallace refuses to let black students into the University of Alabama but JFK does not agree. He brings in the National Guard and allows for the students to start school there.
  • March on Washington

    March on Washington
    During the film, the March on Washington occurs. This occurs because the people want peace. They want to war with Vietnam to end to the march happens.
  • JFK Assassination

    JFK Assassination
    Forrest was in college and played football. They won a big championship so they got to go to a reception where they met the president (Kennedy). Kennedy is shaking their hands and asking them how it felt to be an all-American champion. Forrest later narrates that JFK was assassinated.
  • Man on the Moon

    The Unites States of America is the first country to send a man to the moon. Neil Armstrong is the first man to step foot on the moon. This is all possible because of the advancement of technology
  • Watergate Scandal

    Forrest Gump witnesses the Watergate Scandal from his hotel room. The Scandal was about 5 men that broke into the campaign headquarters. In the end, Nixon was involved and he resigned from president before he could be impeached.
  • Hurricane Carmen

    Hurricane Carmen
    This hurricane was noted in the film for hurting the shrimping industry of Bayou La Batre. Forrest Gump's boat Jenny was at sea at the time of the hurricane. It suffered the worst of the storm, but was not destroyed by being blown on land like other boats. Forrest's business, initially very slow, came to prosper after the hurricane eliminated much competition.

    John Hinckley Jr. tried to kill Ronald Reagan. Reagan survived but was injured with bullet wounds. This all takes place in Washington D.C.

    Jenny takes Forrest Gump to a meeting of the Black Panther Party. The Black Panther Party was an African American revolutionary leftist organization from 1966-1982. They believed in preventing racism against blacks, and that all blacks deserved to be treated equally to whites in society.
  • HIV/AIDS Outbreak

    HIV/AIDS Outbreak
    HIV/AIDS became a serious threat to the citizens of America. Because of this outbreak, many were not aware of the effects. In the film, Jenny gets the virus and passes away.
