Dr. Pepper Came Out
Dr. Pepper was created by Charles Alderton. It originally came out in Texas. In the movie "Forrest Gump" he loves drinking Dr. Pepper after it came out.

The Vietnam War was one of the controversial wars in the 20th century. Many people believed that soldiers were being sent to their death and were very against the war. In the movie "Forrest Gump", Forrest enlists in the army and is sent to Vietnam.

Smiley Face
The smiley face was created to represent a happy person. It was made to go with the quote, "Have a nice day". In the movie "Forrest Gump", he wipes the mud off of his face on a T-shirt and it comes out as a smiley face.

JFK's assassination
The president was riding in a car in Dallas on his way to the Trade Mart to give a speech. He was shot in the head and neck. He was brought to Parkland Memorial Hospital and was later pronounced dead. In "Forrest Gump" JFK was President when Forrest was on the Football Team.

Nixon was President from 1969-1974. Previously he was a U.S. Representative and Senator for California. He was the only president to resign from office because of the Watergate Scandal. In "Forrest Gump" Nixon is President when the U.S. Ping Pong Team visits the White House.

Watergate Scandal
Several burglars were arrested in the office of the Democratic National Committee. These burglars were related to President Nixon's reelection campaign. They were caught wiretapping phones and stealing documents. In the end Nixon resigns.
In the movie "Forrest Gump", Forrest is the one who sees the burglars and calls the police.

Reagan's Attempted Assassination
While Reagan was leaving the Washington Hilton Hotel after giving a speech, he was shot. He was shot in the chest by John Hinckley Jr. His press secretary, James Brady, was also shot and survived.
