    First Recorded Use

    The first recorded account of Forensic Science was written in the book Xi Yuan Lu in China during the song dynasty. The murder was committed with a sickle so he asked everyone to bring there sickle and test what wound it would create.

    Further Use

    In ancient India and China it was known that when a suspect was on trial they would fill there mouths with rice powder or wild rice. They thought that someone who was guilty would produce less saliva and have a dry mouth.
  • Finger Prints

    Finger Printing was first used in India by a man called Sir William Herschel. It was used as a form of security or signature on documents as he was working for the civil service. This prevented the forging of signatures.
  • Forensic DNA Analysis (DNA Profiling)

    DNA Profiling was first developed in 1984 by Sir Alec Jefferies. It was a major break through in crime science as it allowed scientists to use the DNA and genetics to tell people apart. It was first used in 1985 in a double murder case and was successful. This method is still used today.

    Forensic Science has been improving ever since 1984. Methods have become more efficient using laser scanners and advanced microscopes to deeply study and distinguish culprits. It is improving as we speak
