The Game Changer
In December 1, 1903, The silent western The Great Train Robbery was released. This movie was a gamer changer for film in a lot of ways. This 12 long film is considered a milestone of filmmaking, being the first to use editing, shooting on location, have frequent camera movement, being the first movie to have an end credits scene and be the first movie with a plot. -
A New Way To Advertise
The first movie trailer was released on November of 1913 and it was for the musical The Pleasure Seekers. This way to promote film proved to be successful and would live on to this day. All movies today have trailers before thought there was only one trailer for a movie, but over time movies would have more trailers and short trailers called Tv spots and today movies have different types of trailers -
Sound To The Images
in the 1920's we got another big move on cinema, this being the addition of sound to movies. The credit of being the first movie with sound goes to the Jazz Singer which was released in October 6, 1927 -
The Earliest With Color
Soon movies started having color in them ( The Wizard of Oz being one of the first ) this later on carried on into cartons. -
"It's About Sending A Message"
In November 3rd, 1954, A Japanese movie produced by Toho studios was released upon Japan. Gojira ( or as we in the states would know it Godzilla : King of The Monsters ) This monster was meant to be a metaphor to the nuclear attacks of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Besides having political undertones, The movie also showed great VFX and introduced the now well know suit-motion technique which would be used for years to come. This movie showed how a movie can be more than what's expected to be. -
The Blockbuster Is Born
In the summer of 1975, Jaws was released to theaters everywhere. This movie needs no introduction as its considered one of the greatest movie of all time and scared an entire generation. The movie faced a lot of problems during production but somehow managed to be the first Blockbuster. The term Blockbuster came from the fact that the line to the movie was so long it busted the block. Jaws had a great premise, Director, Actors, and a theme song that haunts us to this day -
Stories From A Galaxy Far Far Away
Star Wars was released to the world 1977. This movie blew everyone's minds away showcasing fantastic practical visual effects and became a staple of cinema along with it's sequels. This film was thought to be a flop but it managed to be more successful than Jaws, you can say the day this movie came out would be a day long remember -
"Life Finds A Way"
In June of 1993, Audiences around the world were introduced to the adventure 65 million years in the making Jurassic Park. Like Jaws, It was directed by Steven Spielberg and this movie is recognized as a milestone of cinema. Besides being the good movie that it is, this movie had full CGI dinosaurs and animatronic ones and to this day 99% of JP's CGI still holds up. Movies in the past have used CGI like T-2, but none like Jurassic Park. This movie brought dinosaurs back to life in the best way -
Assembled At Last
After years of build up, Marvel's The Avengers was released. This movie became an instant hit and surely showed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe was going to be a success. This movie also showed that the concept of a Cinematic Universe can be done and since then multiple companies and giving it a shot for example : Warner Bros with their DC Extended Universe, Legendary Pictures with Godzilla and Kong, Universal with their classic movie monsters, and 20th Century Fox with the X-Men franchise
