    Fiat was founded in Turin, Italy, by Giovanni Agnelli, as the premier automobile manufacturer of the town.

    Fiat's first logo change happened in 1901 as the company started to gain traction. Their first plant had been open for a year at this point and they had actually made cars.
  • Color!

    Color!
    Fiat once again changed their logo. This time, to a more colorful and eye catching design. They also stated their town of origin on the new logo.

    The company continued to grow as automobiles became more affordable and popular. During this time, they changed their logo again. It was changed to a basic circular design that very much resembles their current one.
  • Change in Shape but not Brand

    Fiat continued to be a well respected brand and carmaker. They kept growing through this time with very little change. The only change was their new rectangle shaped logo that stuck with them for decades.
  • Growth

    During this very important year, Fiat purchases Lancia, an automobile manufacturer and competitor from their hometown. They also purchase half of Ferrari. They also had a more simplistic logo change a year prior.
  • First Real Hiccup

    Fiat endured its first hiccup in its history. A large amount of workers go on strike due to conditions and wages. During this same year there was the first oil price shock.
  • Expansion

    This is a very big year for Fiat. Beating Ford, they purchased Alfa Romeo from the Italian Government making themselves Europe's largest automobile maker.
  • Fall

    Fall
    Fiat falls on hard times and has to sell 20% of their company to GM for $2.4 billion worth of GM stock.
  • Harder Times

    Harder Times
    Fiat requests crisis status from their government as they say over 8000 may be laid off. They have to shut down their Sicilian Plant.
  • Partner

    Partner
    Fiat purchases a 20% stake in Chrysler in return for their technology and North American market. This comes right after the stock market crash so no company is doing well. Later in the year Chrysler files for Bankruptcy. They also changed to their current logo in the years prior.
  • Today

    Today
    Today, Fiat Chrysler is doing decent. They are not doing as much in sales as many other competitors but they are doing enough to get by.
