    Queen Elizabeth the first started the east Indian trade company to be able to exchange goods between Britain and India, english became the main language used to communicate between the two different cultures.
    Sometimes the same word in both languages meant something different than the other, so they created the Hobson Jobson to not get things mixed up

    The English arrived in the caribbean islands in 1622 with slaves from africa, they had created what they called the triangle trade, where they sailed from Britain to africa and picked up slaves then went to the caribbean islands and in exchange for the slaves they got raw material that could be manufactures into expensive goods such as cotton, they also got spices and other things as tobacco
    This made England rich and powerful.
    The english borrowed some words such as tobacco and hammock
  • British Criminals

    In the 1788 they started sending criminals to Australia as a punishment for their crimes, these people were new to this sort of climate and it took sometime for them to figure out how to farm and grow crops on the hard soil, this meant many people died of hunger.
    The people that live there now has a special word for the british, Pommie, which means ''prisoners of the motherland'', they refer to the old prisoners that were sent there to serve life time.
