  • Nuetrality Acts

    Nuetrality Acts
    Series of laws designed to help prevent the US from getting tangled up in foreign wars by enforcing it's neutrality. This fueled the 'isolationist' movement, which also beleived that the US should not be involved in foreign conflicts.
  • Rome-Berlin Axis

    Rome-Berlin Axis
    Coalition between Germany and Italy, formalized by the Pact of Steel. This is the original group that formed the axis powers, though it later came to include Japan as well.
  • The Anti-Comintern Pact

    The Anti-Comintern Pact
    An anti-communist pact formed between axis powers such as nazi Germany and the empre of Japan. (along with other facist governments) It was aimed at the The Third Communist International.
  • The Neutrality Act of 1937

    The Neutrality Act of 1937
    Similiar to it's 1935 counterpart, this Neutrality act was aimed at supporting an isolationist US. It prohibitted selling weaponing to warring nations, and only allowed the sale of ordinary goods if transported by the buying nation and paid for in cash.

    Hitler wanted all German-speaking nations to be united with Germany. He also wanted to do this with his homeland, Austria; this, however, would have violated the treaty of Versailles, which forbidded any union of Austria and Germany,

    The Munich Conference (and appeasement)
    A failed attempt to appease nazi Germany. The settlement permitted Germany to annex german-speaking regions of Czechoslovakia that existed along their borders.

    The Nazi-Soviet Pact
    A non-agression pact signed between Russia and nazi Germany. It is also known as the Molotov-Ribbentop Pact, after the soviet and german foreign ministers who were involved with it.

    An invasion of Poland headed by several axis(such as Germany) and non-axis powers(such as Russia) that marked the beginning of World War 2. It was also known as the Defensive War in Poland and the September Campaign.

    The Fall of France

    German invasion of France and other neighboring countires such as Belgium and the Netherlands. The Germans were successfully able to beat allied French forces in this vicious fight.

    Operation Dynamo (The Miracle at Dunkirk)

    Miraculous evacuation of allied forces from France. The decision to do so was made when allied forces elsewhere in that region of Europe were surrounded by the Germans.
