    Cornwallis becomes leader of English forces

    Thomas Jefferson escapes barely from British Troops.

  • August 19,1781

    George Washington and his army move south secretly.

  • September 20,1781

    Cornwallis is informed that Henry Clinton will bring troops and supplies.

  • September 14,1781

    The Continental Army and French Army enter Williamsburg.

  • September 24,1781

    Clinton doesn't come with troops, but assures Cornwallis he will come.
