  • Albany Plan

    Albany Plan
    The Albany Plan of Union was a plan to create a unified government for the Thirteen Colonies, suggested by Benjamin Franklin, then a senior leader and a delegate from Pennsylvania, at the Albany Congress on July 10, 1754 in Albany, New York. In attempt to gain independence Franklin tried to unify the colonies to defend themselves against Indian and French threats, but failed.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    An act of the British Parliament in 1765 that exacted revenue from the American colonies by placing a stamp duty on newspapers and legal and commercial documents. The Stamp Act was a direct tax on the colonists, and led to a rage of anger in America. They called this taxation without representation.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was an Incident on King Street by the British, there was a confrontation on March 5, 1770, when the British Army soldiers shot and killed several people while under harassment by a mob. Several colonists were killed, and it lead to a campaign of speech-writers. Led American colonists to revolt against Britain
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a protest by the American Colonists against the British government. They staged the protest by boarding three trade ships in Boston Harbor and throwing the ships' cargo of tea overboard into the ocean. They threw 342 chests of tea into the water. This major event caused the Revolutionary War to arise, making the Second Continental Congress have to make a change.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    The First US Congress consisting of the US Senate and the US House of Representatives. It was a meeting from twelve of the thirteen colonies. It was an economic boycott of British trade, and drawing up a list of rights and grievances. The congress did not advocate independence, it discussed the rights and wrongs that had been brought upon the colonies in hopes they would be heard.
  • Intolerable acts

    Intolerable acts
    The Intolerable Acts were laws passed by the British Parliment in 1774 following the Boston Tea Party. These laws were put into place as a punishment to Massachusetts colonists for their resistance in the Boston Tea Party protest. Due to this an outrage was caused, and that led to a huge push towards the American Revolution.

    The Second Continental Congress granted a convection of delegates from the thirteen colonies that formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Second Continental Congress managed colonial war efforts, eventually leading towards independence.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. The battles were fought on April 19, 1775 in Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, within the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy, and Cambridge. Many battles followed, and in 1783 the colonists officially won their independence.

    The American Revolution was caused by colonial conflict. It took place from 1775-1783. The Patriots won independence from Great Britain, declaring them the United States of America. America did this in alliance with France.

    Declaration of Independence
    By issuing the Declaration of Independence, adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, the 13 American colonies cut off their political connections to Great Britain. The Declaration summed up the colonists reasoning for seeking independence.
