    Representatives from each colony met and agreed they where upset with the British parliament passing another sent of law against the colonist. they wrote and sent a declaration of rights to the king, protesting his policies on the colonies.

    Battles of Lexington ans Concord.
    First shots of the Revolutionary war where fired at Lexington on advancing British Troops from a small number of militia, the British returned fire on the militia and forced them to retreat from the grounds. While retreating the militia met up with more militia and prepared for a battle at Concord, with the British following them the ambushed them at a bridge near Concord where the fighting kept on all day. The Americans won the battles only losing 49 and the British losing 73.
  • 2nd Congress

    2nd Congress
    Reacting to the British parliament refusing to compromise with the Declaration of rights. British parliament viewed the Declaration of rights as colonial discontent and became stricter on the colonies. The Congress formed a Continental army as they knew war loomed, and appointed George Washington as Commander and Chief. Wrote olive branch petition as last peace with Great Britain, and also served as the colonists first official government.
