    The committees of Correspondence were shadow governments consisting of Patriot leaders. The patriots would share information about the British actions to the colonists. This happened on the day before the Revolutionary War to help to colonists know how to take action the next day.

    In July of 1775, a petetion was created by the Americans in a final attempt to stop the Revolutionary War. The petition was called the Olive BRanch petition. John Adams opposed this and claimed that the war was going to happen either way, so he sent a letter to the king of Great Britain. The letter arrived at about the same time the petition did. The king decided to not even look at the petiotion or the letter and straight up rejected it.
