  • Armenian Massacre

    Armenian Massacre
    This event happened during and after World War 1. It was between 1915-1917. 167,000 people were kicked out of the Armenian SSR ( Soviet Socialist Republic) in the process dozens of people died due to the conditions and attacks. Most historians call this event a Genocide, also a planned and systematic campaign to exterminate a group of people.

    Holodomor
    Holodomor was thnic cleansing event that took place between 1932 and 1933, there are no exact dates to when it started or ended. This event was so big that it's even compared to the Holocaust. The translation of Holodomor means "Death by Hunger". A total of 10 million people died during this tragic event.

    The Holocaust started on January 30th, 1933 and ended May 8th, 1945. This is one of the biggest and known Ethnic cleansing events in history. This took place during World War II. It was simply Adolf Hitler trying to exterminate the Jews, he was doing this because when his mother died she was in the hands of a Jewish doctor, also because he originally wanted to be an artist, and the art school that rejected him was Jewish.

    The Istanbul Pogrom or also known as the Istanbul Riots, wasn't as big as the holocaust and Holodomor but it was an event of ethnic persecution. A government brought about a conflict against the Greek Minority. Not a lot died but many were abused, raped, etc. and over 4,348 Greek-owned businesses, 110 hotels, 27 pharmacies, 23 schools, 21 factories and 73 churches and over a thousand Greek-owned homes were badly damaged or destroyed.

    The Indonesian killings of 1965-66 were massive scale of killings, took place over many months. These killings were against communists, ethnic chinese. there was an attempted coup on in September and 6 generals were killed, but by October 2nd Sukarno had control.The estimated death toll was about 500,000 people. This sudden change led to the downfall of president Sukarno after three decades. In October of 65 was when the massacares started.

    On August 4th, 1972 President of Uganda, Idi Amin ordered the expulsion of his country because he said that how he had a dream where God told him to do it. It was on the Asian minority, and giving them 90 days to leave Uganda.

    Bosian which is one of the multicultrual country created after WWI. It contained ethnic and religous groups. These groups weren't the best of friends, they were made of Serbs (Orthadox Christians), Croats (Catholics) and ethnic Albanians (Muslims).They all wanted to establish their own Repbulic but when the voting came the Serbs boycotted the whole thing and wanted to make their own Republic. This is where power came and ethnic cleansing, because the Serbian government and the Yugoslav Army

    Turkey sees signs of ‘ethnic cleansing’ by Kurds in Syria
    Turkey accused Kurdish militia in northern Syria of persecuting civilians on Tuesday, people said that it was ethnic cleansing. The actions that they did are similar to ISIS. Turkey is uncomfortable with the gains by Kurdish militia, which now control almost half of the Syrian side of Turkey’s 900-km (560-mile) border. They fear that they will eventually come into Turkey and kill off the Kurdish minority.
