Erikson Timeline part 1
Bonita who is 5 months is alone in her room laying in her crib. She begins to feel hungry and cries hoping a trusted adult will ease her discomfort . After several minutes of crying and her parents refusing to come to her aid she stops crying . As this has happened many times before baby Bonita develops a sense of mistrust since she is in the trust vs mistrust psycho social stage. Due to the mistrust in early infancy Bonita will have a difficult time trusting other humans down the line. -
Erikson Timeline part 2
Bonita is now a toddler and is feeling a bit more independent. Her parents have always been a bit distant but have become more active in her life. However, Bonita is still able to explore her world and sees her self as separate from her brother. Sometimes her parents allow her to engage in some healthy decision making choices like what she would like to eat or wear. Bonita develops a sense of autonomy. She is in the shame and doubt vs autonomy psycho social stage of development. -
Erikson part 3
Bonita is 12 years old now and is starting to try to shape her own world and her own identity at this point. She developed a sense of mistrust early on and never felt quite good enough. As a result she is experiencing identity confusion, especially in the face of some of her peers who are so grounded and confident in who they are and have parents who are "all in". She is in the identity vs identity confusion psycho social stage.
