Brittany (age 8) was in her social studies class and was having a hard time with the new vocabulary. Her teacher encouraged her to look at the words at home and practice learning them. With support, she began to understand the words and their meanings and surpassed her classmates on the next quiz. The crisis is between learning new skills and mastering those skills through encouragement, or lack of recognition and failure leading to experiencing inferiority. -

Brittany (age 34) has known her boyfriend Logan since they were 18. Through their relationship, she has always had her own individuality and slightly fears the pressure of marriage. The crisis is risking one's identity to commit to someone else intimately, or to avoid the commitment and end up isolated without an intimate relationship.
