    The Albany Plan of Union was a plan to place the British North American colonies under a more centralized government. This lead to the Declaration of Independence because the Albany Plan failed to unite the colonies, so there needed to be a new way to do that.
  • The Stamp Act

    The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. The colonists were angry that unnecessary taxes were being forced upon them so they decided to take a stand against Britain. This was the first act of independence for the colonies.

    The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770, between a "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers. The colonists were so angry at the British for being unfair that they decided to attack. This was another event that led to the colonists declaring independence from Britain.

    The Boston Tea Party happened in 3 British ships in the Boston Harbor. The Boston Tea Party took place because the colonists did not want to have to pay taxes on the British tea. This lead them to boycott the tea and throw it over board ships in the Boston Harbor.

These acts infuriated the colonists which later forced them to declare forms of independence from Britain.
