Edgar returns home from the army, he reconciles with John and therefore receives the funds from his uncle to go to West Point. He gets kicked out a year later. -

Poe leaves NYC in June, returns in September, takes the wrong train to Baltimore, is found unconscious on the stoop of a bar, and gets taken to the hospital where he later dies on October 7th.
