    On January 19th, 1809 Edgar Allan Poe was born.

  • 1811

    Poe's mother, Elizabeth dies.

  • 1820

    He goes to school in the United States.

  • 1827

    Poe drops out of school because he can't afford it. He writes his first book called "Tamerlane and other poems" and he joins the army.

  • 1829

    Mrs. Allan dies and Poe returns home. He applies at West Point.

  • 1831

    Edgar gets kicked out of West Point.

  • 1835

    Edgar wins a contest and gets a job.

  • 1836

    Poe marries his cousin, Virginia, she is 13 and he is 24.

  • 1845

    Edgar Allan Poe writes his most famous work, "The Raven".

  • 1847

    Poe's wife dies do to tuberculosis.

  • 1849

    Edgar Allan Poe died October 7th, 1849.
