    Ancient Egypt’s use of drawing

    Around this time our ancient ancestors used drawing to decorate the walls of their temples and tombs by carving scenes of daily life and other things around 3,000 BC

    Middle Ages

    Through the middle ages drawing were produced primarily to express religious messages and stories of the Bible. Monks would use drawings and paintings to illustrate Bibles and prayer books.

    Renaissance

    Around this time drawing began to take the form we recognize today. In Italy, drawing became recognized as a respectable art form because of the rise of the use op paper.
  • Baroque Period

    During this time a new style of drawing was introduced. This style was more livelier drawn with flowing lines. At this time, artist started using water color and ink washes.
  • Advancements in art

    During this period innovation defines the advancements in art form of drawing. Pencils were first manufactured early in the 1800's and quickly became the most preferred drawing tools.
  • Experimenting with art

    Ingres and Goya were pioneers in using the newly manufactured pencils and evolving the subject matter of drawing .
