  • Friedrich Miescher

    Friedrich Miescher
Miescher discovered nuclen in the nuclei of humn white blood cells ,also known as DNA, in 1869. He characterized and isolated the protein componets of white blood cells. Miescher arranged fr surgical clinic to end him pus-saturated bandages and planned to wash outbefore filtering tewite blood cells and their proteins.
  • Chargaff

    Chargaff
In the 1950's, Edwin Chargaff contributed base ratios also known as "Chargaff's Rule" to the science world which is when each purine has to match the correct pyrimidine. He studied different animal species and did careful examinations. Before this, humans did not know that purines and pyrimidine were able to bond.
  • Hershey and Chase

    Hershey and Chase
1952, Hershey and Chase did experiments on what made up genetic material for bacteriophage. It performs with the bacterium called Escherichia coli and virus T2 that infects E. Coli radio active chemicals. Two batches of E. Coli and T2 have radioactive P fund in bacterial pellets.
  • Franklin

    Franklin
Franklin conducted a large portion of the research led to the comprehending the structure of the DNA. She produced two high resolution images of DNA fibers using an X-ray machine. She calculated the strands that phosphates were outside of that seemed like the double helix structure.
  • Watson and Crick

    Watson and Crick
Discovered the double helix shape of DNA. They used cardboard cut outs to represent the nucleic acids and put the pieces together like puzzle using Chargaff's rule. It explained how the two strands of DNA are held together.
  • Meleson and Stahl

    Meleson and Stahl
in 1958, Meleson and Stahl's experiment proved that DNA copied itself in a semi-conservative process. They cultured bacteria in a 15N medium then they shifted the bacteria to a 14N and observed it over multiple generations.
