Iran's Green Revolution
The Green Revolution was about the election happening in Iran. There was 3 million people that showed up in the streets wearing a green sash, hence Green Revolution, who were upset about the presidential elections. Facebook and Twitter were used to spread the word about the election, but word of mouth and text were what really set the revolution. -
Egypt's Facebook Revolution
In 2010/2011 protests started to happen against the government because of high unemployment and corruption. Facebook was used to organize protests, share photos and videos, and to communicate problems with one another. -
Libya Protests and Revolution
In 2011 there was an uprising against Muammar Gaddafi, who was the four decade ruler of Libya. It let to a civil war. Social media was involved but was then shut down by the regime. -
Ukraine Revolution
The Ukraine Revolution is happening today, where there are protests against Yanukovych. The revolution in Ukraine has been going on for years because their president, Yanukovych has made changes to their trading with other parts of Europe to be in closer ties with Russia, and the people of Ukraine are not happy about it. Social media is used to share pictures/videos and more about what is going on.
