The Transformation begins
After rude customers harass her at the diner, Amber is attacked by them in a parking lot. With a sudden burst of strength, Amber breaks her attacker's jaw and bites off his finger. -
Shocking news
When Amber returns home, her parents are oddly happy to hear about her fight. Much to Amber's bewilderment, they invite over all their friends to celebrate. For the first time in her life, Amber's parents and their friends treat her with respect. While Amber is upstairs, the police come to her house to ask about the fight. Amber's parents transform into demons and kill the police officers. -
Imelda Helps Amber
After Amber escapes by jumping out the window, Imelda, her mom's friend, brings her to her house. She tells Amber how her parents made a deal with the Shining Demon to receive power and immortality in exchange for sacrifices. Amber discovers that her distant parents had been planning to kill her and that she can transform into a demon too. -
Forming a Plan
Imelda hires Milo to protect Amber while they are on the run from her parents. Milo brings Amber to Edgar, his friend, to figure out how Amber can break her parent's contract with the Shining Demon. Edgar shows Amber how to summon the Shining Demon. -
A Demon Deal
Amber meets the Shining Demon and negotiates with him. She tells him that she will bring him the man who escaped his contract in return for protection from her parents. The demon agrees that if she can bring him the man in three weeks, he will make her blood poisonous, so her parents can not drink it. If she can not bring him the man, he will take her soul. -
Amber Meets Glen
While on the road, Amber and Milo stop at a gas station. Amber shifts into her demon form and accidentally startles a woman. When the woman attacks her, Amber easily flings her aside and is surprised by her new strength. She walks into the forest to test her abilities when she meets a boy named Glen. Glen is also in the process of breaking a deal, and he joins Amber and Milo on their journey. -
Dacre Shanks
Amber, Milo, and Glen track down Dacre Shanks, a serial killer, in hopes that he knew where the man they were looking for was. They find that he is magically held prisoner inside a dollhouse. Dacre tricks Amber, and she is transported inside the dollhouse. Thanks to her demon strength and the help of her friends, Amber escapes and takes Dacre from his prison. -
Vampires
While staying at a hotel, vampires infest the town. Amber and Milo are helping a family when Glen is captured and bit by the vampires. Milo kills the vampire as Amber helps Glen escape. -
Tree Witch
Amber and Glen are captured by a tree witch. While they are in her underground lair, they speak with the prisoners and gain information. Amber kills the tree witch and saves the prisoners. -
Gregory Buxton
Amber finally tracks down Gregory Buxton, the man that the Shining Demon is looking for. He does not come willingly, and she is unable to force him. Amber decides that she will have to make sure that the Shining Demon is angry with her parents, so they can't come after her. She attempts to ruin her parents' offering by smashing the jars of blood. -
In the Shining Demon's Castle
Amber lures her parents into a trap by setting up a summoning circle. They are transported to the Shining Demon's castle. Amber tricks fool, the Shining Demon's servant, into giving her the potion that will make her parents unable to kill her. -
On the Run
Angered that Amber did not uphold her end of the bargain, the Shining Demon expels her from his castle and send the hounds of hell after her. Amber's parents were most likely killed by the Shining Demon. Milo, Amber, and Glen go on the run from the hell hounds.
