In Seneca Falls, New York the first women's rights conference was held. After the two days, they had the conference 68 women and 32 men signed Declaration of Sentiments. This set 12 resolutions were adopted, which called for equal treatment and other laws to be passed. -
The first woman suffrage law in the U.S. is passed in the territory of Wyoming.
Wyoming was the first to pass a women's suffrage law and it gave women the right to vote. The first women vote was the following year. -

In the case of Bowe v. Colgate-Palmolive Company, the court appeals rules that if women meet the same physical shape of men they could work in many different jobs that were held by men only. Men did not like this ruling because it took away jobs for them and gave it to the women. -

Roe v. Wade
The Roe v. Wade case had a huge effect on women. The supreme court stated that women could have a safe and legal abortion, while most states were anti-abortion. This was very important for women at the time because it gave women a voice in their relationships. -
Pregnancy Discrimination Act
The Pregnancy Discrimination Act stated that when a woman was pregnant she could not be discriminated at her job. They cannot be fired or denied a job if they are pregnant and they do not have to take a pregnancy leave if they were able to work. This helped women all of the nation to keep a job or have an opportunity to find a job even though they are pregnant. -
The Draft
The Supreme Court ruled it was constitutional for women to be excluded from the draft. This was because of the Congress only had the resources for males to register. -
Title IX
In 1997 the Supreme Court elaborated on Title IX that said that college athletes could not be discriminated. The college has to have an equal number of men to women in sports. This gave women an equal chance of being a college athlete as a male. -
Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice
Hillary Clinton became the first women to be elected to public office as a U.S senator. While Condoleezza Rice became the first African Ameican female to be Secretary of State. This set up for many other women to be elected for public office. -

In 2013 the military combat positions were open for women to join. This was a great thing for women because it opened 220,000 jobs in what are known as combat arms. 200,000 jobs women did not have before. -

In 2017 the movement called #metoo started to take control. This was the first time many survivors of sexual harassment started using the metoo hashtag. This is when women started to take off in every direction from sports to government everything was talking about sexual harassment. This was very big for women, this gave women a way to speak out on what they believe in and how they should be treated.
