Cops investigate on road
The film starts with a car crash that actually happens near the end of the movie. We are on a road outside the city where the police have sealed off. There is a dead man in the ditch and the cops investigate this. -
Yesterday: At the gunshop
The movie scene changes to the city and on the screen we see the text: "Yesterday".
We see a Persian man and his daughter at a gun store. The man is not good at English but want to buy a gun. -
The carjackers
We see two black guys walking around. We also see a wife and husband walking towards the,. The wife and husband goes to their car and the two black guys carjacks it. -
The chinese smuggler
The scene changes (14:30). We are now at a diner where we see two men talking, one is handing over a note and the other Chinese looking man says: “I’ll go get them now” this is important for something later in the movie. -
The Cabots and the Locksmith
Back home with Jean and Rick Cabot. They are changing the lock, this is done by the black guy, Daniel. Jean is convinced he will sell the spare key to gang members, because he is black and tells Rick that she wants to change the locks again tomorrow, and this time not by a "black gang member".
Meanwhile Rick is with his companions trying to avoid the public scandal that might happen because his car was stolen by black guys and he is a lawyer who defends black guys. -
The racist cop and the Thayer´s
A cop is standing in the telephone box talking to a woman about his sick father. He says something racist to the women and then leave. He goes out on the street and into the police car. In the police car, we hear a search for the Cabot´s car. The cop stops a car that looks like it, even though his sidekick tells him it is not the right car. -
The racist cop and the Thayer´s
The car is stopped, the officer makes the driver comes out. The wife is drunk and complains, then she is also ordered to stand up outside the car. The cop then touches her, inappropriately. -
The invisible cloak
Daniel comes home in the evening and finds his daughter laying under her bed because she got scared of a truck bang. They recently moved out from a bad neighborhood, where a bullet once had gotten through her window so she is a little traumatized.
Then Daniel makes up this story about an invisible cloak that no bullets or anything else can get through. He gives it to her and she is no longer afraid. -
Black carjackers run over Chinese guy
Around 30 minutes into the movie: The two black guys in the stolen car run over the Chinese smuggler guy. They dump him at the hospital. -
Break in at the store
Around 40 minutes into the movie, there has been a break-in at Fahrad's store.
Fahrad is also told that the insurance will not cover the damages because he did not get a new door as Daniel said he should. -
The full dishwasher
Jean wakes up and finds the dishwasher full. Maria, her housekeeper, comes back from having dropped Jean's kids off at school. Jean gets really mad at Maria, because she has not emptied the dishwasher. -
Have you found your brother?
50 minutes into the movie, the black detective is with his mom who asks if he found his brother, but he hasn´t -
The racist cop and the car crash
55 minutes into the movie, the young officer with blonde hair has been reassigned so he does not have to be partner with the racist dark haired officer. 58 minutes, the racist officer and his new partner comes to a place where a car crashed, the driver is Christine Thayer, the wife who got molested by the same cop. He tries to help get her out and realizes what mistake he made. She is frightened when she sees who it is, but after some time he gets her out. -
The Carjackers and Cameron
1hour 10 minutes into the movie, the two black carjackers try to steal Cameron’s car. But they did not know he was also black (one of the carjackers once said that you would never see him trying to steal from a black guy). 5 minutes later they are stopped by the cops, who saw the trouble. Cameron does not give away the carjacker who is hiding on the front seat. -
Good guy
1hour 20 minutes, the black detective is at his moms house with groceries and fills up the refrigerator because he feels like he owes her something. -
Revenge time
Farhad, the storeowner, has his gun and wants Daniel to pay up. Daniel's daughter comes running out and hugs him to prtect him just as Farhad shoots. Luckily she is not hurt; the gunpowder was loose. -
The Blonde cop kills a man
The young blonde cop picks up a black man, acting all non-racist, but when the black guys starts laughing he gets mad. Then when the black guy puts his hand in the pocket, the cop shoots him. The cop realizes it was a bad mistake and misunderstadning because the black guy did not mean to hurt him. He pushes him out of the car and then leaves. -
Jean Cabot falls on the stairs
Jean Cabot is on the phone with a friend but this friend does not have time, even though it is important for Jean to talk about her anger-problems. She hangs up and then falls down the stairs -
Cops investigate on the road (beginning)
A car crash at a road outside the city where the police have sealed off. There is a dead man in the ditch and the cops investigate this. -
Back at the beginning
The movie is back at the “beginning”. The policemen have now found the dead guy and are investigating. The black detective realizes that the dead guy is his lost brother. -
The chinese people in the van
The black carjacker-guy is on the bus, but gets off when he sees the white delivery-van with the key in the door.
We see a Chinese female (the driver from the beginning of the movie) running into the hospital asking for her husband. The husband is the Chinese smuggler. He gives her the check he got at the diner and tells her to go get the money immediately.
Meanwhile, Anthony has driven the white van to the stolen car dealer. The dealer wants to buy the Chinese people inside. -
The identification of the dead man
At the same time the dead guy is identified by the black detective and his mom. She blames him because he was too busy to go find him when the mom asked him to. She also thinks it was his now dead son who refilled her fridge. -
The movie fades out
A couple of events that rounds up the movie ending:
The storeowner tells his daughter what happened and gives her the gun.
Jean calls Rick, tells him she fell down the stairs and no-one but Maria had time to help. When they hang up she hugs Maria and realizes she is her best friend and she regrets the way she has been treating her.
The blonde cop burns his car.
Anthony releases the Chinese people in Chinatown (1:40). -
The End?
The movie ends with a women braking and this makes the car behind hit her. The woman is the black councilor who was rude to the formerly racist cop. The people who hit her car are not speaking English and then she starts to act racist and says “don´t speak to me unless you learn to speak American!”
