     Britain claims land
    The ships arrived and were from England and called the First Fleet.
    The first fleet of ships landed in Botany Bay and so began the colonisation of Australia. The English people (soldiers, convicts, scientists and their families) claimed the land as their own.
    They came to find more land because they didn’t have anywhere to put the convicts. Multiple Perspectives

    I , Captain Arthur Phillip was chosen to go for a 8 month voyage across the seas. I was told by Captain cook that there were convict that had to be shipped to to new holland to stay. when i arrived at new holland l planted a british flag into the ground.

    There was a debate about putting together the 6 states into one country called Australia. The states were WA, NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
    You had to change train tracks if you were travelling to nsw to Queensland because the train tracks were different sizes.
    To make a bigger and stronger country.

    Australians went to war because they were of the British society and were told to help fight for their country. Back in those times men thought it was important to go fight and make the world a better and safer place.
    Women and families were affected because women had to leave their homes and work for a living. This meant that the wimon got to vote.

    Australia as a nation still has very close links to Britain.
    The queen of England is still the head of Australia and her face is printed on some of our notes and coins. A lot of people talk about Australia becoming a Republic with no more ties to Britain.
