Colin Kaepernick

  • Introduction

    Introduction
Born on November 3rd, 1987 in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Colin is best known for his Super Bowl heroics as the quarterback of the San Francisco 49'ers. During his childhood he dealt with a lot of racial struggles which really layed the groundwork for what he believes in today (Lee).
  • NFL Draft

    NFL Draft
This is one of the most notable events in his life. .8% of high school football players make it into the NFL, and even a smaller percent of that .8% are actually drafted let alone the 36th overall pick. This helps me draw conclusions about his work ethic. The accomplishment to get drafted into the NFL shows that he worked hard his whole life to separate himself from the other 99.2% of football players ("What Experts Said after 49ers Drafted Kaepernick").
  • Losing Super Bowl

    Losing Super Bowl
Colin Kaepernick is a competitor. He shows it by his emotions. You can see the anguish in his body demeanor in that picture, and you can here it in his voice in his interview after the game http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/0ap2000000135754/Kaepernick-We-ll-be-back .This interview is showing that he is very persistent and he believes in himself and his teams ability to come back and win.
  • Kneeling During National Anthem

    Kneeling During National Anthem
This has been one of the most defining moments in Kaepernick's life. The decision he made to protest the national anthem by kneeling during it brought about so much scrutiny upon him. He choose to do it to bring attention to the issues around race that are happening in our country. Immediately when he choose to take that knee, he became the country's scapegoat. I choose this picture because it is showing him kneeling right in front of the flag and two military personnel. I find that as something
  • Kneeling cont.

important to point out because he is kneeling in protest, but what everyone else views it as is disrespectful towards all of the people who fight for that flag. This shows Kaepernick as smart because I am sure he knew that him kneeling would bring negative attention to him, but any press is good press, and it also brought attention to his issue (Wagoner).
  • Opting out of contract

    Opting out of contract
After the 2016 season, the 49'ers and Colin sat down and discussed where they saw him fitting in to their team for the upcoming season. The organization told him that he could either opt out of his contract or they could release him. The reason why they told him that was because they were pursuing Brian Hoyer who had played for 7 different teams since 2009. He choose to opt out and see if other teams would pick him up. It ended up back firing and now he is unemployed.
  • Not on a NFL Team

    Not on a NFL Team
The facts speak for themselves, Colin Kaepernick is good enough to play on an NFL team. For the 2017 season, he was not even signed to a team as a backup. No team wanted to be the organization that signed him due to all of the bad press that could come along with it. They call it blackballing, a systematic denial of a certain person from a group secretly (Kolsky). This is showing that while he was not planning on losing his job, he took the risk to draw attention to an issue he finds important.
  • Conclusion

    Conclusion
Colin Kaepernick is currently living the unemployed life at the age of 29. He is still optimistic that an NFL team will put aside the issues not regarding football and sign him.
