    Winston Churchill delivers the speech in the United States. He is concerned about Soviet aggression in Eastern Europe. The Iron Curtain is the division between Capitalist Western Europe and Communist Eastern Europe. He wanted America to take a bigger roe in Soviet aggression.

    Truman Doctrine was a message by President Harry S. Truman that the United States asked congress $400 million in military and economic assistance for Turkey and Greece.

    The Marshall plan (ERP)also known as the European Recovery Program is when the United States helped Western Europe by giving over 12 billion in economic assistance to help rebuild Western Europe after the end of World War II. One of the stated goals was to halt the spread of communism on the European continent, Austria,Belgium,Denmark,Greece,France,Iceland,Ireland,Italy,Luxemborg,Norway,Sweden,Portugal,Switzerland,Turkey,the UK, and Western Germany help participate in the act.

It was an attempt that arose from the Soviet Union to force the western allied powers to abandoned their post-World War II jurisdictions in West Berlin.The U.S. responded by creating a massive airlift of food, water, and medicine to the other citizens of the besieged city.

    The Berlin Airlift was known to be called the first battle of the cold war which was begun by the U.S. where U.S. pilots would deliver food and supplies by airplane to Berlin after the Soviet Union isolates the city.     NATO also known as (North Atlantic Treaty Organization)was created by Canada and several western European nations it is an international alliance that has 29 member states from North America and Europe. It's purpose was to defend member nations from threats by communist countries. The United States wanted to maintain a prescence in Europe. NATO was the first peacetime military the United states had entered into outside of the Western Hemisphere.

Korea was split into two states in 1948 The united nations joined the war on the side of South Korea and the people's republic of China came to North Korea's side to help.

    The Vietnam war was a long conflict the communist government of North Vietnam against South Vietnam and its principal ally the United States but it was intensified by the ongoing cold war between the U.S. and the Soviet Union North Vietnam was supported by the Soviet Union,China, & North Korea. South Vietnam was supported by the U.S., Thailand,Australia,New Zealand,Canada, and the Philippines. March 29, 1973 U.S. troops withdrew the war but intensified the bombing.

    The Hungary revolt was a nationwide revolution against the hungarian people's republic and it's Soviet-imposed policies.It began when hundreds of thousands of Hungarians led a revolt against the Soviet controlled government .The revolt spread quickly and the government collapsed. Khrushchev's of "de-Stalinisation" caused many problems in Eastern Europe communist countries where people hated the hard-line stalinist regimes that Russia had put in place .

    The Sputnik 1 purpose was for tracking and studying it was the first artificial satellite which was launched at the Gagarian's start by the Soviet Union the successful launch shocked the United States it orbited around for 3 weeks before it's batteries had died after two months it had fell back into earths atmosphere
