    The Korean War
    A war between the S. Korea and N. Korea. In the year 1950, N. Korea invaded S. Korea in attempt to turn it communist since the two separated and S. Korea was a democracy. The war lasted from 1950 to 1953. This event is important to history because if the Amer. troops did not step in, S. Korea would become have communist along with N. Korea and China. It impacted Amer. society because it divided the U.S. in two as well as 58,000 amer. were killed which further divided the people.
  • Joseph McCarthy

    Joseph McCarthy
    Joseph McCarthy was a senator from Wisconsin. He said, in 1953, that he had a list of 57 communist state department employees. A year later, he then said there were also communists in the army. He eventually lost his power and was censured. This event was important to history because it was a Red Scare. He spread around the fear of America having communist members when the U.S was a democracy. Joseph McCarthy's lies impacted American society because the people became more afraid afterward.
  • Brown vs Board

    Brown vs Board
    It happened when Oliver Brown asked a local school board, in Topeka, KS, to let his daughter, Linda, to attend an all-white school, which at the time, schools were segregated. In this event, Brown asked the NAACP to help file a lawsuit. The importance of this event in history is that it turned over the Plessy vs Ferguson case. The Brown vs Board case impacted Amer. society because Brown won in a unanimous decision and all schools were desegregated.
  • Elvis

    Elvis
    Elvis Presley, pronounced the King of R'NR. He was a singer, some of his songs being "Crazy little thing called love" and "Hound dog". He lived at Graceland in Memphis, TN and lived from 1935-1977. His importance is that he had 44 gold singles, 40 gold albums, and starred in 33 films and his impact was that he was one of the biggest influences on pop culture and r'nr. Elvis impacted society because of how much he influenced pop culture and the people who listened to his music.
  • The Berlin Wall

    The Berlin Wall
    A wall that separated the free and democratic zone of Berlin (West) & the Soviet zone that was communist (East). In result of this, 3 million East Berliners fled to the West side. The Soviet Union built a wall of concrete, along with barbed wire, all along Berlin to stop this. This wall is important to history b/c it became a symbol of the Cold War, even though it fell in 1989. It impacted Amer. society b/c people felt like the C.W was over and they didn't have to worry about nuclear war.

    After WWII, Vietnam had two leaders, one that was communist,N. Vietnam, and the other was democratic, S. Vietnam. America felt that something called the domino theory would take effect, making S. Viet. communist along with some other southeastern Asian countries. America sent more than 500,000 troops over in 1965. This event was important to history because thousands were killed and
  • The Robert F. Kennedy Assassination

    The Robert F. Kennedy Assassination
    Robert F. Kennedy, John F. Kennedy's brother (who was also assassinated), was assassinated by Sirhan Sirhan at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California, he was shot 3 times. RFK was campaigning for becoming president.This event was important to history because this led to Secret Service protection for all future candidates. RFK's assassination impacted politics because all future candidates running for president get Secret Service protection, it changed politics for all future candidates.
  • Kent State Massacre

    Kent State Massacre
    In a school in Ohio, 21,000 stud. protested because of Pres. Nixon's pledge to send troops to Cambodia. At one point, National guardsmen were sent, 28 fired 61 bullets into the crowd. 4 students were killed and 9 were wounded. This event was important to history because the guards were not found guilty and further divided the U.S. because of the Viet. War. The K.S.M impacted Amer. society because it further divided the U.S. as well as people were upset because of these students dying.

    Jimmy Carter is the 39th president of the U.S. being of the Democratic party. He was a governor of Georgia before. He was apart of the Helsinki Agreement and the Olympic boycott in 1980. He was important to history because of those named events but also because of the Social Security Act, which was also passed, Iran hostages were taken, and Camp David Accords in Egypt & Israel. Jimmy Carter impacted Amer. society because of the hostages taken which made people upset and the S.S. being passed.
  • George H.W. Bush

    George H.W. Bush
    George H.W. Bush was the U.S. president between 1988-1992. He was the previous pres. vice pres. and was from Texas.He was involved in the Persian Gulf War. George H.W. Bush is important to history because of his involvement in the P.G.W. as well as other events such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, which was passed, the Berlin Wall falling, and Operation Desert Storm. George H.W. Bush impacted Amer. society because of the falling of the B.W. which symbolized comm. and the A.w.D.A. passed.

    Social Network Revolution
    The Social Network began when the first social network cite was created in 1944. Over time, other cites were created, such as Facebook, Snapchat, and Twitter (to name a few). Since these cites were an easy way to communicate with other people, this made them popular. This event is important to history because we use many of these social networks now and they have become very mobile. The Social Network Revolution impacted Amer. society because it's changed the way we interact with each other.
  • Financial Crisis 2008

    The U.S. financial sector. In 2008, the world economy faced dangerous crisis. This event began when mortgage dealers, who issued mortgages with borrowers, couldn't pay, so they went into foreclosure. Insur. companies traded companies for credit swaps. Why this event was important to history was because a deep recession had taken over most of the world. The Fin. Crisis of 2008 impacted Amer. economy because the U.S. had nearly lost two million jobs and unemployment rates shot up to 7.2%.
