Cold War Begins
On this day President Truman warned his secretary of state "Another war is in the making". This is when the U.S was going to war with the Soviet Union. -
Truman Doctrine
The Truman Doctrine was created because the Soviet-backed Communist were threatening Greece and Turkey. This document stated that the U.S would provide economic and military aid to oppose the spread of communism. -
North Atlantic Treaty Organization
The NATO was the formation of the U.S, Canada, and most European countries into an alliance. It was designed to counter Soviet power in Europe. -
Warsaw Pact
The Soviet Union and the Commust nations of Eastern Europe formed their own alliance, known as the Warsaw Pact. -

As the U.S and Soviet Union advanced in weapon technology, they also advanced in spacecraft. With this advancment the U.S and Soviets had a race to see who could get a man to the moon first. -
The Berlin Crisis
Hundreds of thousdands of East Germans would migrate to West Germany causing their population to decrese. Due to this decrease East Germany issued a barbed wire fence to block the border entrance, this eventually turned into the Berlin Wall. -
Cuban Missle Crisis
The U.S is worried becuase the Soviet Union and Cubans were said to have Nuclulear Missles which the U.S was scared if tested the bombs would reach the Ameircans. -
The Berlin Wall Falls
Thousands of East Germans migrated to Western Europe, causing the East German government to open the Berlin Wall, breaking it forever and ending this blockade. -
Fall of Soviet Union
The fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of Soviet-backed regimes in Eastern Europe showed the dramatic crumbling of Soviet power. Due to this more up rising for freedom rose.
