Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union during World War II and at the beginning of the Cold War. He is important because he paved the way for future leaders whether it being them going against his ideas or with them. He also set the stage for how the Cold War would be. -

This was when the U.S. would fly supplies into West Berlin to keep the people alive. This was required because Stalin kept a blockade on Western Berlin. This is significant because it showed that the U.S. would not give up on their people. -
North Atlantic Treaty Organization
This organization is a group of nations that have come together to have peace and help each other and countries in trouble. This is important because it unified the Wester countries and was used to keep Communism from spreading. -
Peoples Republic of China
This is a communist country of China. It is important because it gave Communism a large lead in the Domino effect. It also made the Western Countries worry about the spread and condition of the surrounding areas. -
Ho Chi Minh
He was the leader of the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War. He was important because he upheld Communism in his area. He also caused distress by going to war with the U.S. -
Explosion of the first hydrogen bomb
This was literally the test of the first hydrogen bomb. This bomb was more destructive than the nuclear bomb. It was important because it set the stage for future bombs and set the pace for the arms race. -

This was literally a wall that divided West and Eastern Berlin This was significant because it literally divided a Democracy and Communist country. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
This was a hish tension event between the U.S. and the Soviet Union where the Soviets had missiles in Cuba. This was important because it showed how fast things could escalate and how far the Soviets would go to attack the United States. -
Korean War
This was a war between North Korea and South Korea and their allies. This was important because it was Communism versus Democracies. This was a large effort against the Domino effect. -
Brezhnev
Brezhnev was the leader of the Central Commitee of the Soviet Union during most of the Cold War. He was important because he made the Soviet Union a military power and focused mainly on it. He also pushed for peace during his time of power. -

Due to a failing economy, the new leader of the USSR changed the policies. This lead to a revolution that ended the USSR. This led to the availability of peace and calming down of the Cold War -
