    ~ Congress never passed a law abolishing slavery in the territory won from Mexico.

    ~This act demanded capture of escaped Slaves in the North to be captured and sent back to the South.

    ~Dred Scott was the first slave to sue for his freedom.
    ~The Supreme Court made the ruling of he was not allowed to leave his owner because by the court of law he was deemed property and property does have due process.

    ~John Brown wanted slaves to fight for freedom. He wanted to capture the war room and arm the slaves.
    ~Brown and his men were captured
    ~Abolitionist saluted John Brown to his death and his actions raised America to a breaking point.

    ~Abraham Lincoln wins the election which came as a shock to the South because he was an abolishinist.
    ~Southern states started to secede due to Lincoln winning the election.
