    It was the first land battle of the Civil War. It was fought by amateur soldiers. They were very inexperienced. As far as battles go, this was a small one. Sometimes it's even called the Big Bethel skirmish.
  • Battle of Santa Rosa Island

    Battle of Santa Rosa Island
    This battle was a failed attempt to take the Union's, Fort Pickens. The Union general was Harvey Brown and the Confederacy's was Richard H. Anderson. There were only about 600 Union troops, facing 1,200 Confederate troops. The Union army lost 67 men while the Confederartes lost 87. And as I said, the Union won the battle.

    Battle of Ball's Bluff
    The Confederates won easily. The Union's general was Edward Baker until he was killed. Then Charles Stone was the new general. Leading the confederates was Nathan Evans. The Union had a force of around 17,200 and the Confederacy had 1709. The Union lost around 1,000. The South only lost 155,
  • Battle of Seven Pines

    Battle of Seven Pines
    The Union was lead by General George McClellan. The South had General Joeseph Johnston, but after he was seriously wounded in battle, he was replaced by G.W. Smith. McClellan had a force of 34,000. The South had 39,000 soldiers. The North lost around 5,000 and the South lost about 6,000. The battle ended in a draw, though.
  • Second Battle of Bull's Run

    Second Battle of Bull's Run
    John Pope of the Union was fighting against the Confederate commander Robert E. Lee. The Union had around 60,000 men and the confederacy had around 52,000. The Inoin lost around 10,000 troops. The confederates lost around 8,000. The result was a confederate victory.
