    The south attacked the north at fort sumter in south carolina on april 12th through april 14. It was the first Battle of the war it started the war between the north and the south.

    The battle was in virgina. Gen. Beauregard lead the south to victory aganist Gen. Mcdowell. the victory gave the south the impression the the war was over. But, it had only just begun.
  • Battle of Hampton roads

    It was in virgina commanded by John Worden (north) and Franklin Buchanan(south). It was the first battle between ironclad ships. neither ships were seriously damaged but it made the south temid to fight the north on ship again. it had also sparked a new age of naval fighting.

    The battle begun in Tenn. on 4/6/1862 and ended 4/7/1862. Gen. Grant led the north against Gen. Johnston. This battel was very important to the succsus of the north's anaconda plan. which was designed the sufficate the south economy by controlling alll of the souths major rivers. In this battle they took controll of the Tennese river. In the battle the south lost Gen. Johnston.

    Declared Jan 1 1863 by president Lincoln intended to free all slaves in confederate territories although it was not succsusful in the south.

    The confederates were in virgina in the battle that lasted from 4/30 to 5/6/1863. they were outnumberd and their chances of victory were very slim. But Gen. Lee leading the south beat the odds not only did they beat the union but they wiped out half of Gen. Hooker's army in the process. But great victoerys dont come without great sacraface in the long bloody battle the south lost Gen. Jackson.

    In mississippi grant and lee foaced off in a battle over the mississippi river it started on may 18 1863 and ended july 4 1863. the union led by grant won therefore wining control over the mississippi river therefore cutting the south in half. this move was vitial if the north wanted to fufill the anaconda plan.

    He was shot at ford theatre while watching a play. He was shot by John Wilkes Bouth. He jumped off the the bonkaney where Abe was sitting he was injured in the act. but he still was able to flee the theatre.

    On April 19 1865 in appomattox courthouse in virgina Robert E Lee surenderd to the north therefore ending the war. The north had won the civil war.
